Palamu Tiger Reserve is known for
harboring some of the most endangered wildlife species. Located just 161 km
away from Ranchi, the capital city of Jharakhand, this reserve has been
recorded as the first forest in the world where first tiger census was
conducted by way of pugmarks, in 1934. Blessed with rich flora and fauna,
Palamau National Park is spread over an area of an area of approximately
1026 sq. km and provide protection and promotion to tigers and many other
exotic wildlife.

Reserve
The
largest part of Palamau tiger reserve is covered with dry deciduous forest
while other parts of the park are composed of moist mixed deciduous forests.
Some time, it also faces severe kind of droughts. The plants popularly found
here are Dhela, Siris, Jang siris, Safed siris, Chantni, Dhautha, Bhabiranj,
Kathal, Barhar, Neem, Kathul. It has many medicinal plants also.
The tiger and panther are the main attraction of the park while other
animals found in the park include leopards, wolves, wild dogs and jungle
cats, sloth bear, four horned antelope, mouse dear, sambar, chinkara, dhole,
wild bear, elephant, gaur and nilgai. If you manage to locate near the
waterholes, you will be able to see a large herds of gaur and chital.

adventure activities like motoring and hiking.
- The innocent wildlife in the park is best to be photographed. So
keep your camera ready with some extra real and capture the very real
pose of the wildlife.

short distance from the park.

- Jeep safari is an impressive medium to explore the wildlife
sanctuary. It has a Watch towers also where from you can observe the
wildlife.

headquarter Daltonganj which is also the nearest railhead and offers trains
to all important cities of India. The capital city of Jharakhand, Ranchi is
the nearest airport and you can access air service to all important
destination in India. The park is extensively connected with Betla and all
nearby cities in the state.
