Hazaribagh National Park is one of the
best options to explore wildlife population in the eastern India. Located at
an altitude of 615 m in the newly formed state of Jharakhand, this park is
full with natural charm and attractive wildlife population. Covering an area
of 183.89 sq km, the park is set up in a undulating terrain and steep hills
with dense tropical forests and grass meadows. Tribal communities are
residing around the park and offer a mysterious but interesting culture.

Wildlife Species in the Park
The
park is composed of steep hills at low side, thick tropical forests and
grass meadows dotting all over the park. The whole park is covered with the
fresh green of sal and miscellaneous trees in spring season. There are
several small rivers and dams in the park which also forms artificial lakes
within the park. And it offers water to all wild animals and birds.
There are tigers in the park and it is a matter of chance to spot them.
Some other animal which can be found out easily include sambhar, nilgai,
chital, kakar, sloth bear and wild boar. Waterholes in the park is the most
potential hangout of wild animals at evening and dawn.
What else to see and do?
- A stretch of 111 km long road in the park is fine way for walking
under the shadow of nature and enjoying easy access to remotest corners
of the park.
- There are several towers built inside the park and offers a direct
view of animals' hideouts and nature engulfing over the sea.
- Hazaribagh Lake in the town is the popular picnic spot for locals
and tourists. If you love water sports, it is an ideal place for you.
- Canary Hills near the town occupies three small lakes and an
observatory tower and offers a panoramic view of entire town.

National Park is located 19 km away from the Hazaribagh town which has the
main bus station and offers a wide access by road to all major cities of
Jharakhand, Bihar and other cities of India. The capital city of Jharakhand,
Ranchi (91 km) is the nearest airport and offers domestic air service to the
cities such as Calcutta, Patna, Lucknow and Delhi. Koderma (59 km) is the
nearest railway station with fine connection to other railway routes.
